Bright Star Kids Academy Philosophy

Bright Star Kids Academy provides children with a quality educational program based on a child's individual needs and interests. The classroom environment has been prepared to meet the differing potentials of children. The planned learning activities are developmentally appropriate and the environment is created to support and influence the progression of a child’s development. Since our program is child-based, the environment continually changes as the children change.

Bright Star's program takes an individualized approach, which provides children with educational alternatives and encourages them to take an interest in learning. Space and time are arranged to enable personal involvement and opportunities that are important to children. Social and academic skills are intertwined and often many skills are developed within the context of one activity or project.

Play is a critical factor of a child’s development. It is through play that the child acquires knowledge of their environment and opportunities to express and represent what they imagine.

In this setting, the teacher acts as a facilitator, guide, recorder, and planner. The teacher must maintain a delicate balance between the fostering of a child’s strengths, interests and needs and the social needs of sharing and caring for others and materials.
